Belly Time

Well a lot has changed since our last posts. We are at 20 weeks today. I've been home for the past week and it's been nice to be with Kirst and actually make it to two OB appointments. She looks and feels GREAT! The first visit was with the doc and he said everything looks great. The second visit was for the fetal anatomy ultrasound scan. They take measurements of the skull, abdomen, femur, and crown to rump. From this they can determine a more accurate gestational age and due date for the fetus. Our original due date was 08/17, but based on results from this scan it is 08/06. The reason for the earlier date is mostly due to the femur length. When the US tech was scanning she said "which one of you have tall people in your family" and thought to myself, no actually I said it out loud "YES". We can thank Kit, my father-in-law, for that because height runs in his family.

I'll stop blogging and let Kirst have a chance to write something.......
Hello All - It has been nice to have Brad around the past week especially with the OB appointment and the ultrasound. It was amazing to see the baby move and listen to its heartbeat. I have even started to feel the baby move in my belly! Also, I am now officially in maternity clothes and even switched to a Navy maternity uniform - much more comfortable even though it looks like a large, white tee-pee. Anyway, back to Brad ......
I leave tomorrow for the last 3 weeks of my didactic year. I start clinical rotations on May 12th. I'll be in Taos, NM for orthopedic surgery (6 weeks) and then La Jolla, CA for internal medicine (6 weeks). I'll have two weeks off between didactic and rotations, which I'll back in SC...I can not wait!

The pics are Easter brunch (in sunny SC) and Kirst's 20-week belly.

Cheers
