We are at 37 weeks, which means full-term and when Great enters this world he or she will be able to breath crisp, clean Oregon air. Kirst is doing well and continues to work. Her last day seeing patients will be this Friday, even though she'll continue to be involved in the office operations. She had an OB appointment last Thursday and everything checked out ok. Great is head down and there are no signs of labor. For the medical minded that means no cervical dilation or effacement.
I finish up here in La Jolla on Thursday and plan to start driving after work. The drive is around 15 hours and I should arrive home some time early Friday afternoon. It's been at great learning experience, but I'm ready to be home!
When I get home we'll post some pics of the belly. Take care. Cheers.

36 Weeks
Hello All,
Just a short update.
All is well with the Mom-to-be. Kirst had an OB appointment this week and the doc gave her the ok to travel. She is going up to Yakima for Grandpa's 90th birthday party. I'm really bummed I won't be able to make it.
Last weekend I went up to Riverside to visit my old buddy Charlie. I spent some time with him and his wife Kathleen and two boys Sean and Kevin. It was nice to catch up and get out of town for awhile.
I have ~2 weeks left here in La Jolla. The rotation is going well and the doc is really a great preceptor. Sometimes I get tired of doing annual physicals, but that's life in Internal Medicine...I miss surgery already.
Sorry no pics this week, but I hear the belly is growing each day. Take care.
Cheers.

34 weeks and growing
Hello All,
Sorry for the big delay in postings. Things have been very busy here with my move to Oregon and Brad's move from his rotation in Taos, NM to his new rotation in La Jolla, CA.
I finished up my Navy commitment in South Carolina on May 30 and flew to Oregon on June 2. I have been busy organizing our house in Bend and starting work with my Dad. "Great" is doing well and growing bigger by the day. It continues to be very active and uses its little foot to kick me in the side often. The OB in Bend requested another ultrasound to be performed to see how the size of the baby is progressing. Similar to the 20 week ultrasound "Great" is bigger than predicted (in the 65th percentile) and the ultrasound due date estimated "Great" to arrive August 5. But, of course, only "Great" knows when it will make its appearance!
Brad was able to take a week off from his rotation in California to visit "Great" and I over 4th of July. He has not seen my belly for 2 months!! Quite a change! Brad had a lot of projects waiting for him such as putting the crib together and helping to organize the nursery. He was a huge help!
BS here: Sorry for the delay in updating everyone. Like Kirst said, I was in Taos for 6 weeks doing some surgery stuff. I was doing mostly ortho, but also some general, GI, urology, and OB. I was in on 4 c-sections...I guess to prepare me for Great's arrival. Now I'm in La Jolla doing 6 - weeks of internal med. I'm at Scripps Clinic, which backs up to Torrey Pines golf course. I finish up on 08/01 and then I'll be back in Bend until 01/09. We are both really happy about that! We promise to keep you all more up to date in the near future. Cheers.
